What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive holistic treatment which originated as a natural therapy in China some five thousand years ago. It is based on the principles of accupressure and ‘zone therapy’ and evidence from tomb drawings show that the Egyptians also used it as a form of treatment therapy.
Gentle pressure is applied to reflex points on the feet ( and the hands in certain circumstances) which are believed to correspond directly to parts of the body. The stimulation of these reflex points by the therapist is thought to encourage the release of any blockages in the body’s natural energy pathways. This may assist the body in reducing stress, anxiety and tension as well as focussing on specific conditions which you, the client may present.
Reflexology induces a deep state of relaxation which in turn helps to stimulate the natural healing process within the body.
